Hummingbird Haven is a Haven for Living Education. Here we have our main Kindergarten and Preschool Program as well as Groups for all ages. Through personalized Coaching, we find a solution for any challenge; in the home, relationships or business.
I named my business Hummingbird to signify a small but mighty initiative, like the Hummingbird. I also named it in memory of my late Father; Roy Weiler who instilled in me a love of learning and confidence through experience in nature. We also happened to ‘foster’ a family of Hummingbirds when I was young, whose nest was damaged in a storm. They grew to be healthy young birds and flew into their freedom when they were ready.
Hence the name ‘Haven’, a safe place where the young can grow, learn and ‘fly’ into their own independence and make the world a better place!
In this era of homeschooling education, there are so many varied directions we can take for our children. What remains a fundamental principle of education from time immemorial is the unparalleled experience of a healthy, respectful and inspired relationship between a teacher and student as well as a group setting with peers.
In our time when homeschooling is on the rise, yet so is AI and online learning, the preservation of our human heritage relies on children continuing to have in person learning and real hands on experience of their education. To have an adult that you, as the parent, trust and align with is absolutely crucial because together we work together towards your child’s growth into the future.

Shannon Weiler is the heart behind Hummingbird Haven, bringing a deep commitment to early childhood development and outdoor/skill based learning. Through a playgroup rooted in arts, traditional stories, song, crafts, movement, and daily outdoor exploration, she guides children in building strong social skills and foundations for higher learning at an age appropriate level.

Tutoring Groups for all Ages and Individualized Tutoring
Children build meaningful connections with peers through group activities. They experience enhanced mental and emotional development while expanding their individual thinking and consciousness.
Give your child the gift of Living Education. These classes are interactive and in person. They are experiential and include movement, drawing, and creative writing. I focus on classic literature, American History, our Constitution, Greek and Latin root word meanings, vocabulary enhancement, essay structure, Biographies of Great Individuals.
I do not follow the normal public school paradigm and therefore am able to focus on key people and moments in history that have truly shaped our nation and world.

Dress Up Birthday Parties with Guided Games
We come to your home or a public park to create a delightful and joyous enhancement to your child’s birthday party. A variety of costume themes are provided for each child to wear as they act out a story told by Shannon Weiler, accompanied by songs, music, and thematic presentation. Simple, non-competitive games are included to bring the group together in harmony and laughter.
The general age range is 3–12. Older birthdays are certainly possible with a different structure, age-appropriate games, and deeper peer connection.

This is for businesses and corporations seeking innovative ways on site, to increase productivity and overall social/physical health in the workplace. It will actively engage each individual to participate with the whole group, increasing the health and overall success of a team. We work with you to evaluate your goals, strengths and weaknesses, customizing each session. This is a non-virtual, hands on experience, bringing energy and positivity.

Meet Shannon Weiler
Born and raised in the wilderness and Redwoods, my approach to education is rooted in the resilience and freedom I learned while living off grid and with no screens. With over 25 years of experience teaching grades K-12 across the country, I have dedicated my life to the art of movement, classical literature, and hands-on learning. My background includes a rigorous four-year movement and education program, as well as time spent abroad and in agriculture, all of which shaped my belief in nurturing independent thinking and a skill based curriculum for children. My work with children is my Ministry and though I do not have my own, I have dedicated my life to understanding child development on a fundamental level and through my extensive experience have developed a model that is effective for engaging the children in an unprecedented fashion.
At Hummingbird Haven, I combine my professional expertise with a deep reverence for childhood. Whether through our preschool programs, upper grades tutoring groups or personalized coaching for parents and businesses, I am committed to building communities where human connection and real-world experience take center stage.
